Fun Factor

Web Guru for hire Jakob Nielsen calls for a new method for evaluating the fun in Web sites. As sites become more useable, we need to evaluate how fun and engaging they are. "There is certainly more to an enjoyable activity than the mere ability to complete it", he asserts. This could only be news to him.

We need much better methods for testing enjoyable aspects of user interfaces. Such methods should be both robust and easy to apply, since people with relatively little expertise do the vast majority of user testing in the world.

Jakob, we're here, at your service. We're called humanists. Critics. Our tradition is more than 2500 years old. But sorry to say, you do need training to qualify.

As with user testing, most reviews are done by people with little expertise, though, as everyone reading film reviews know. As for hypertext critisism, Mark has grinded his axe, to get at bad critics.

But if some of the performers are bad, the methods are here, Jakob. Give us a call.
