Panther and iApps

Adrian is experimenting with Apple Mail 1.3, but the results aren't fabulous yet. I stick to Eudora. They have finally added spam filtering, which seems to me to be working almost as good as Mail's.

On the other hand, I have switched to iCal. The new version actually is OK, and as my Palm is slowly dying, I am planning to buy a PDA-phone with bluetooth and use iSync.

Panther is excellent. My machine is actually much faster now, especially during startup, and the small tweaks to the interface really make a difference.

Panther also annoys me. I cannot find a single reason why Apple has removed the System Preference panel where I could select the default mail and Web applications. In Panther, the default Internet programs are set in Safari and Mail! To be able to use Eudora, i had to run the very Mail app I wanted to avoid.

This is not user friendly. Apple may think it is profit friendly, but it is not user friendly.
