Opera has finally issued an update of their browser for the Mac. Version 7.50 (last was 6.3) is only in beta yet, but seems very fine. I'll test it this week.
Much less browser chrome, about the same as Safari now. I feels extremely fast, although when I tried a few tests, Safari and Opera was head to head.
The interface has a few smart additions. Safari's SnapBack has become a "fast rewind" button, and similarly, Opera has a "fast forward" -- for speeding to the next result from your last Google search. I haven't got it to work on other pages.
A "links" button is very clever. It makes a list of all the links on a page available in a column on the left. You can even search it. A note-taking tool is even better. It actually saves your notes with the URI. This is good news for us Web researchers!
And when I drag URIs to my Tinderbox bookmark collection, I get page titles instead of URIs as note titles. This does not work with Safari for some reason.
I'll try it for a week, and I think it will be fun.
