Been a few days since I've been posting. While I had bronchitis, Philip got pneumonia, and now Synne has come down with an ear infection. We've been taking turns on taking care of the kids, and as I spent all of Monday and Tuesday in meetings with the editors of the Norwegian Media Journal, I've been babysitting in the evenings and spent Wednesday running between all the people I should have been speaking to the last week. Doesn't leave much time to blogging.
But I don't feel buried in work, as we got a new view from our house. When our next door neighbor decided to cut down a tree, we realized that the other tree behind it was cut down this winter by another neighbor. Instead of trunks and branches, we see the delta and the lake!
We haven't realized earlier, but as our house was one of the first here, the porch was actually built to overlook the lake. In the twenty years since, houses and trees have sprouted to block the view entirely, but now we are gaining at least a third of what it probably was. I ran over to the houses on the other side of the street and got permission to cut down a few young trees (that aren't really on their properties, but it's better to be nice), so this weekend I'll borrow a chainsaw.
Last summer I had my martini with a twist. This summer, I'll have it with two olives and a view.
