Step 3: Language considerations.
I write in both Norwegian and English. How do I cover this with one home page?
Translating everything is not an option. A few years ago, I tried writing short descriptions of everything in both languages, but it is too much work.
Most Norwegians are also able to read the English stuff, so a navigation scheme that leaves the English out might make them miss some things.
I could use a "select language" splash screen, sort of like Nike.
I could split the home page in two areas, sort of like Jakob Nielsen does.
I could continue what I have been doing lately, making the home page bilingual, thinking that people will be able to cope. But what then with navigation links? Should they be in both languages too? Should they be grouped?
