I just disappeared, didn't I? I knew I was going to be away from work for three months taking care of Philip, but I figured it would be fun to blog it all.
Know what? I just didn't have any spare time to blog. I always understood I would be busy, but in my mind I pictured it like I would do one thing first -- feed him perhaps -- and then move on to something else, like playing or reading or change a diaper. It only took a few hours to understand that with a 11 months-old kid learning to walk, everything happens at the same time, all day long.
And as Mona kept the house when she was home, she naturally expected me to do the same. Another revelation: it was quite a bit more work than I ever realized before.
In Norwegian, we call it pappaperm, which translates into paternity leave, or really "daddy-leave." It's one thing that makes me proud of Norway. I negotiated to have two months, and then five weeks of vacation after that.
So now I'm back at work, and Philip has started day-care. I must admit I like to do grown-up stuff, but I sure miss messing around with the little fellow. It was a shiny chapter in my life that now is finished.
