adios, telenor!

It gives me great pleasure to be able to say that from today, I am no longer a Telenor customer.

Well, I still rent the twisted pair into our home from Telenor, but there I have no choice. For telephony and Internet, I now rely on Tele2. I hope they will be better than Telenor has been -- it shouldn't be too difficult.

Telenor charges way too much for everything. They never inform you that they might have a less expensive offer for you.

Installing DSL from Telenor was a two-month struggle, with 20 phone calls, two to the head of their Internet department. Among their classic comments was a demand that I downgraded my OS. I declined to do so, and of course it wasn't necessary.

Last year, they disconnected me from the network in error, and it took a full month and a long series of phone calls to get back on line. Then they tried to charge me for it!

When we moved house, we were to keep our phone number, but instead of connecting it to our new house, they connected it to some stranger. It took a week of calling customer service to get it fixed. Four times they promised to call me back, but they never did. Once, they sent me an SMS saying they were delayed, but it would be fixed within two days prior to the day the SMS was sent!

To be fair, I should add that during the times I have been connected, the technical quality has been excellent. And when I have complained, they have always in the end given me generous discounts.

Still, my experiences (and those of my friends) with Telenor's abysmal customer support make me happy to say:

Adios, Telenor, good riddance!
